Applied Architecture is pleased to have provided the design services for Sacramento’s first professional college of architecture, set to open soon. Located at 315 12th Street, the project converted a former muffler shop to serve the community in a more impactful way. Michael F. Finishing touches are taking place on the Sacramento College of Architecture – the first such school in California’s Central Valley. Michael F. Malinowski AIA is the architect responsible for conversion of a former muffler shop in Sacramento’s oldest neighborhood to this new use, founded by Professor Umber Kazmi.

Wood elements on the main courtyard of the WAL project on R Street are looking good as the stucco work proceeds. Moving quickly into finishes on the interior of the units as well; and the brick is being installed on the exterior as well. The CLT used for the mezzanine’s is looking great – the beauty of exposed wood without spending extra since it’s part of the basic structure.

Work is about to start on a very exciting mix of tenants who will be a part of the WAL . a tavern/barber shop; and a collective that includes food, drink, art and artisans . more soon!

Reshaping a home that the owner said “looked like a medical office building” is easy to visualize when you use sketchup to visualize. Since we share our models with our customers; they get to roll up their sleeves and have some fun too!

Expressive use of structure is a theme at the Warehouse Artist Lofts . within a few months of completion the structure is coming to life in both special and ordinary ways
